Through its ministry at the time of death,
our parish offers comfort and hope to mourners. The funeral Mass
begins with the reception of the body near the baptismal font. The
casket is sprinkled with holy water and clothes with the pall in reminder of
baptism.
When a Death Occurs:
•Call
the Parish Center to arrange the time of the funeral
•The
parish liturgist, or another minister from the parish, will meet with the
family to plan the liturgy and provide options for the scripture readings,
intercessions and music. A worship aid will be provided.
•The
O'Gara Gathering Space may be used for Reviewal or Visitation on the day of
the funeral an hour prior to the funeral liturgy.
Following the funeral liturgy, a lunch is provided.
