Simpson Housewarming Ministry

St. Thomas the Apostle parish and Simpson Housing Services are in partnership to help families transition from homelessness to independent living. A list of items that are generally needed by most families will be updated to reflect needs specific to each family we are asked to help. Each family has items that will need to be purchased so cash donations are also gratefully accepted. You may make checks out to St. Thomas the Apostle and drop them in the weekly collection. Please note on the check the donation is for the Simpson Housewarming Ministry. A specific list for the family will be published at that time. If you have items on the General Needs list, please contact Jeanne Stevens. Currently there are no storage facilities available, but Jeanne is tracking items for future needs.

Simpson Shelter Meal Ministry

Once a month, a team of 10 – 12 parishioners gathers at The Simpson Overnight Shelter to serve a meal to 110 guests. We currently have two teams that alternate each month. Each team purchases the food, and prepares and serves the meal to the guests. If time allows members of the team join the shelter guests at the table to hear stories of the men and women staying at the shelter. The opportunity to hear their stories helps us to let go of any stereotypes and prejudices we may be carrying and invites us to see, in a new way, the challenges facing those who are experiencing homelessness.
