Founded as the first parish in Southwest Minneapolis, the Church of
Saint Thomas the Apostle continues the faith journey of its founding parishioners and
builds on the strengths and gifts of those who have come before us.
We believe that we are all people of God, those who are members of
our parish and those who are not.
As a community we are generationally diverse and respectful of
individual values. We have a history of quiet compassion and service.
Our gathering on Sunday to celebrate the Word and Eucharist is the
foundation of our community. We are sent forth to reflect, share and live the Gospel
message.
We are called by our baptismal vows:
-to be faithful and just stewards, both as individuals and as a
community
-to offer a place of worship and a celebration of liturgy that is
open and welcoming to all
-to support and challenge each other to live a Christian life
through formational and educational opportunities
-to be Christ in the world by standing with those in need through
charity, advocacy, and pastoral care.
We strive as a parish to become Christian disciples and ministers so
that we may carry out the mission of the Gospel through active ministry. We trust that
with Gods grace we may act with justice, love and serve one another with respect,
and walk humbly with God.
